Diario Las Américas, Award to a Young Entrepreneur

At 15 years of age, Luis Garcia arrived in Miami in 1979 from his native town of Chinandega, Nicaragua. Right away he began looking for work. His first job was in a supermarket where he earned $90 a week. Then he went on to carpet cleaning which paid a little bit more. From there he went to pumping concrete on construction sites. He was earning $4.50 an hour and learning the trade. Today he owns his own company and just been given an award in recognition of his entrepreneurial spirit.
